USA vs. Russia: Who will be the leading nation to enter the Team Final?

In the afternoon of the second day of competition, the top female athletes from the USA and Russia will show their skills on the competition floor. It’s going to be exciting: Will the dominant team from the USA be able to finish qualification in first place and thus become the favourite for the Team Final on October 9th? Team Russia will compete without its star Aliya Mustafina, who has to take a break due to an injury after her international comeback in April. The team will still be filled with expertise as floor specialist Angelina Melnikova, who has already won several medals on this event, will take part in the competition.

The qualifying rounds are not only about entering the finals but also about the qualification for the Olympic Games. Only the best twelve teams of the 2019 World Gymnastics Championships will make it to Tokyo 2020.

Placings of the qualifying competitions:

• Top 12 teams qualify for the Olympic Games
• Top 8 teams qualify for the Team Final
• Top 24 gymnasts on all apparatus qualify for the all-around finals
• Top 8 gymnasts per apparatus qualify for the apparatus finals on vault, bars, beam and floor
